As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

One Month for a One Year Goal... Tuesday, June 25

To say it was a quite successful day would definitely be the understatement of the day because it was so much more than that.  For starters, at weigh-in, in 6 days I've lost about 1kg in weight and 1kg in body fat.  My new training regime and change in my clean eating proved themselves successful today when I stepped up on the scale.

My new training regime:
1.  Weight training in between rounds.
2.  Wear a sauna suit always, to increase the intense and stress on my body.
3.  Train late at night, like 10:30/11pm.

Clean eating change:
1.  Allow myself two cheat meals a week, something that I really wasn't doing.
2.  Have only a protein shake after late night training (no eating out with clients after work/training).

In addition to the success with my own hard training and clean eating, we hit a very significant milestone today at Hulk's Boxing Club -- we reached our goal of 70 members.  Initially this was my first year goal but about a week ago, when we realized it could be a possible reality this month, we let word be known to all our members that we wanted to hit this goal before our first month grand opening anniversary.  We even went so far as to pose the challenge to them all to help us and in return we'd draw for a one month free membership for one member.  Well, looks like we'll be having that draw after all!  We're actually at 85 members but with some members stepping away for the holidays and some not returning for their own personal reasons, we wanted to get over 70 before we announced that we had a secured 70 members.  Tonight we got it, very cool.

"Drinks for everyone!" I yelled out at the end of the evening when I announced to those present why today was such a significant day for Hulk's.  As for our drinks, they consisted of various protein shakes shared among about 7 of us at midnight.

After work Snickers and I called my father to share with him our awesome news and he was so happy to hear.  I know he worried about the success of our business from the get go and still does but I know he feels confident in us and knows we'll work hard because boxing is really all he's ever heard us talk about for the past x number of years.  He knows we're both super passionate about it.
