As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

We're Hulk's BOXING, not Hulk's Fitness Club... Thursday, July 5

For some reason or another, there seems to be a repeating misunderstanding among the foreigners here in Cheonan.  While the Koreans are shocked at our monthly rate so are the foreigners but the shock isn't the same -- the Koreans think our membership rate is cheap while the foreigners think we're expensive.  I've come to the realization why this is.  Despite clearly labeling our boxing club "Hulk's Boxing", the foreigners continually misunderstand our training facility as being a fitness club.

Let it be known -- correction, LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR -- we are NOT a fitness club.  There are no women walking on treadmills -- we don't even have treadmills.  We are a boxing club.  Even though we may sell a service that is fitness-related and in the same industry as a fitness center, we are no more a fitness club than a Japanese language school is an English school and that's the fact.  Our focus here is boxing and our crossfit circuit training classes and weight training are mere accessories to what it is we do here and that's... BOX!  Crazy as it sounds but I don't see how we can be more clearer than by calling ourselves a boxing club.  We're HULK'S BOXING, not Hulk's Fitness Center or Hulk's Health Club.  We punch, upper cut, jab and throw hooks.  I don't see them doing that at a fitness center and you know why, it's because they're not a boxing club.  Get it?! Got it.

To perhaps make it a little more clearer and to point out some additional things that distinguish us not only from that of a fitness club but from other boxing clubs, I typed up this quick fact sheet.  I'm sure there's many additional things I'm missing it in but that's ok.  Just wanted to get my point across and I think I did that.
