As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Life Happens to Those Who Make it Happen... Thursday, September 19

My Go-To Wing Man, aka Snickers' cousin Brooklyn, isn't here -- he never came to Granny-Kim's house and K-Gere left last night, probably because he thought he was going to punch his brother again, so my alternatives were Snickers' little nieces -- Butter Ball and Dixie Cup. This time last year Dixie Cup was an overly spoiled princess-manner-sporting girl who milked her good lucks to get here everything and anything. And as for Butter Ball, she was fighting for her life after a terrible car accident that almost killed her but instead left her with an insane amount of tubes running in and out of her tiny body.

Now Butter Ball talks though so my interest level in her went from minus numbers to about a 2.  And Dixie Cup has morphed into quite the sweet, overly protective sister, bringing her interest level to about a 4. I instantly made them both my Go-To Girls, to help get me through this holiday, but even at their young age they do some of the food prep work.

I fired them at exactly 6am today, when they barged in the room I was sleeping in and decided to yell and jump all over me. It was like a new form of Hell but here on Earth.

"Get them out before I make them into footballs and toss them!!!" I told Snickers. He had no idea of what I fully meant but he knows me well enough to know I am not a morning person.

After I counted to about a zillion million and calmed myself down, I joined the rest of the family for a traditional remembrance ceremony for Grandpa-Kim and then it was time for breakfast. Every year I struggle to stomach having to sit through the smell of extra spicy food and meat for breakfast. I love my meat, don't get me wrong, and my spicy food. Koreans, I love their food but they really got to get their act together and respect the whole breakfast food separation. I mean, there are no distinctions between what they eat for each meal!!!

After breakfast we headed to Grandpa-Kim's tomb and as soon as we arrived Granny-Kim broke down. She really loved that man and still does. I asked Snickers as we stood there if he could ever love me as much as Granny-Kim loved Grandpa-Kim and he just smiled. "When I die, will you find another love?" I asked him and he answered, "When you die, I will come after you. Don't leave me alone."

We ended up leaving Granny-Kim's house earlier than expected -- a deal Snickers had promised me if I acted on my best behaviour and to which I did. Last night Mouse Doctor was involved in a dangerous crash and so we had to go visit him in the hospital.

Yesterday, while he was doing 150km on his motorcycle, a car decided to do an illegal u-turn. Instantly, upon impact, Mouse Doctor was tossed an estimated 35 meters into the air. His motorcycle was totalled and he was rushed to the hospital via an ambulance. Thankfully he was wearing his helmet and also his motorcycling suit. When we arrived at the hospital he looked fine, something I was surely not expecting as I had prepared for the worst. Of course looks can be deceiving though. He doesn't have a scratch on his body but he can't stretch his one leg, can't bend the other and all his muscles in the side of his body have been torn. It hurts for him to laugh and a sneeze almost brought tears to his eyes. It's estimated that he'll have to stay in the hospital for a solid two months, maybe more, but I am so glad he is ok. I mean, he should have, would have and could have died considering the situation. Call it luck, call it God, I call it a miracle.

Mouse Doctor was one of two witnesses at my wedding and he is very dear to both Snickers and I. He is one of Snickers' best friends and I can't believe we almost lost him... his story gives me chills.

As for the rest of the day, we spent it working on our dream.  Our dream has always been Hulk's but it's also always been about pushing ourselves beyond our limit and really seeing what we can make out of our life.  We've got big plans, perhaps bigger than we can handle right now, but our time will come.  Instead of waiting on the time to come however, we're busy planning, brainstorming and imaging it really happening.  Part of us imagining meant us standing in front of an abandoned old warehouse, seeing the possibilities of it and it's potential.  And just like Hulk's, when we first stepped into it's abandoned walls and all the nastiness that that involved, I could visually see in my mind the greatness of this place and the people that would fill it.
