As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

If I Didn't Honestly Love my Job... Wednesday, March 19

Today was supposed to be my extra day off but, as I specifically worded it just now, it is an "extra" day off and not an assumed one.  I had numerous things to do at work so not only did I go in but I also went in early.  I had to register our Hulk crew for the Cheonan Sanglok Marathon.  I was supposed to do it Monday but couldn't because of, well, see Monday's frustrating post on that, and even when I was rescued by my friends I then had to wait till the next day to call the racing company.  And then of course I had to figure out how to pay it when I had spotted so many of my friends.  Sounds like a rambling story here, well it kind of is but you'll be happy to know that we are finally registered and all paid for -- all 27 of us -- and I am so happy.   We also had to go in early to re-tile the girls private shower room.  "Everything is a learning experience" I am constantly telling myself.  This week I learned that I definitely can not depend on specific people but that I can surely depend on others.  I've also learned how to do tiling and how to fix leaks in the roof and ceiling.

We're giving out Hulk tank tops to those registered with us who are willing to wear it but I got word that my former teammate Black Skinny who is also joining us won't be wearing one like he did last year.  He isn't wearing one on account that Junior Mint, our former coach, will be in attendance at the race. Like I need my former coach to show up and add extra pressure.  Perhaps I should make a crop top out of my Hulk tank top and show him what I've been working on with my new coach -- I've got something wonderful going under my shirt... hahaha.

Next week we'll be having two special guest trainers running Hulk's with me -- I wonder if Junior Mint knows about this.  One of his star champs will be working for me, I wonder if Junior Mint knows.  Then again, I wonder if this particular star champ has officially quit UP.  Regardless, two of my former teammates (both champions) will officially be my two employees next week and I'm so excited especially considering one of this is of our original UP pro team.  Together they will be helping with the boxing training because Snickers will be out of country on business and he'll be out of country from Monday to Friday.

In other news, I haven't quite made the "good-job-champ" pat on the bum an official club norm but hugs from my young Hulkies, punches to the shoulder, high tens, and "air fives" are practiced on a daily bases.  Love my air fives -- I can scream "air five" at a Hulkie from across the club and they'll stop what they're doing, jump, and give me an air five.  Love my Hulkies, they surely are the coolest kids in the city.  Only the cool kids allowed at Hulk's, scouts honor, no lies with this fact.

Taught five out of the six Crossfit Circuit Classes today which meant I yelled and hollered and pushed many Hulkies through a class that left many of them sweaty and using my name as a new found swear word.  They really rocked their training and the more they tried, the more I felt energized and the more I yelled!  I didn't teach the last Crossfit Circuit Class on account that it was with the Sushi Crew and it was during my training.  I did however scream my head at them, as they did to me too -- great guys!

My training for today:
Crossfit Circuit at 3pm
Boxing at 11pm

Ending the night with boxing is great but I must admit that I probably wouldn't be able to train as intensely as I do if it weren't for the accompaniment of the Sushi Crew training beside me.  I'd love to get my boxing training in earlier but working up a sweat and then staying at the chilly club for X number of hours is quite uncomfortable.  I work up a sweat when I do Crossfit with another female Hulkie that comes in specifically to train with me but it's nothing compared to the sweat I work up with my boxing.  For my boxing, I wear a sauna suit shirt and alternate between wearing my wrist weights on my ankles and wrists.  After boxing I'm spent.  There is no continuing on to train others or to really function after.  There's just enough energy left over to eat my post-training meal and shower.

Today's work day started at 11am and I clocked out of Hulk's at 1am.  It was a 14 hour work day.
