As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

A Fabulous Friday Overdose... Friday, May 9

It was just one of those days, a day filled with awesome moments, "fun" surprises and snippets of what may very well be Heaven here on Earth for me.  From a friendly visit and hugs from a Hulkie waiting for his train, another visit from a beautiful friend and her wide-eyed baby, to spontaneously  busting out some dance moves with another super cool Hulkie, it was just one of those feel-good days.

It was one of those days were even the Pesky Parkers didn't even phase me!!!

My work day started off with Kato (my sponsor's son) showing up for training.  I told him I had to measure his feet for new Adidas Adipower boxing boots and randomly blurted out, "I don't like them".  Instantly I grabbed him by the shoulders, jumped up and down and said, "I'm so happy to hear that!!!"  And I was, I was so very happy to hear that, and that's exactly where the fabolousness of my fabulous Friday really started.

I did weight training today -- two Crossfit routines with two different Hulkies.
I didn't box today but I definitely got in a lot of random dancing... hahaha.

My most current project, figuring out how to get custom boxing handwraps made -- it's a bit of a secret project I'm working on actually.  Today I contacted a seller out in Pakistain and then one in China.  Both of them have the best prices from what I've researched but then I got a great insider's scoop from a "fan".

"Why don't you just print your own labels and then get them sewn on?", he asked.

That's perfect!!!

So now I'm looking into where I can get my own labels made because I do have an awesome seamstress that could totally help me out with her mad sewing machine skills.

Another thing on my plate is a signing Snickers for a possible fight I'm waiting for confirmation on.  He's been saying he wants to get back into the ring and he's been training like he'll be stepping in it tomorrow so maybe the fight on the table will be his.  It's still not a definite but the thought of him getting back into the ring absolutely thrills me, plus the fact that it'd cover our plane tickets to Canada for Christmas and all our expected expenses with that is definitely a thought on the mind too that sweetens the deal.

It's interesting that Snickers wants to get back into the ring.  As many, so many and maybe too many, know about his fall out with his former coach and how we so bluntly fired him over him handing over Snickers' Super Light Champion belt, he clearly struggled to get over that.  It's now been 4 years -- 4 years, 3 months and 3 days to be exact -- but it's been so hard for him to move on.  He's had fights since changing over coaches but it wasn't the same.  His passion for boxing definitely took a blow and it wasn't until that December afternoon when Junior Mint lashed out at me with his words and totally disowned me that I ever remotely understood what he had been going through.  Words hurt and they hurt the most when they come from people you care about, love and respect.  I didn't think he'd ever get back into the ring and had come to terms with him just not feeling the same about fighting professionally.  I know he loves coaching, he's more than happy doing that, so I left it at that.

A couple of months ago he was approached about a fight in Australia and he accepted it instantly, without even hearing the details of the fight or his opponent.  "Please don't become a prize fighter!" I told him.  You see, there are boxers who fight for the prize and those who fight for the pride it brings.  Those who fight for the prize only fight for the paycheck.  The paycheck is what initially got Snickers into pro boxing but it was the pride and identity it brought him that kept him in it.

His pride is back and the fact that he's back to training hard, weight training on his days off and boxing during work hours, is proof of this.  He's training to win and though his boxing stats were once his pride, his pride is now Hulk's Boxing, his boxing club, so he's fighting for it.

Snickers and I are both training for our comebacks.  He might be kicking his off in another country but I'm looking to keep my local.  I still have yet to decide on the Japan fight I've been offered because I'm in the process of registering with a new manager and getting that finalized.
