As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Ocean-bound for Fights and Food

A small crew of us from Hulk's headed up to Incheon to catch some live fight action.
The main fight was really the only fight we had travelled all this way to see.
It was a fight between two fierce females.
My friend Ju Hyun was fighting a visiting fighter from Mexico.
The fight was a good match, very action-packed, full of lots of accidental headbutting, but both female fighters were determined and fierce.  Torres, the visiting fighter, got called on every and any little thing so that was annoying but it was to be expected.  This is Korea.
I know home advantage exists every where and that Korea is no anonomly, but this picture clearly captured what we were all thinking.  Look at Torres' corner and look at that of Ju Hyun's.  Both corners displayed opposing reactions to what just went down for 10 rounds.
Ju Hyun won, Torres lost, and this scene broke many hearts.
To tell you the truth, we all left the match feeling a bit down, a bit blue, so we decided to lift everyone's spirits with some super delish ocean side seafood.
A feast for us... yes!!!
I think one of my favourite things about Korea is its love for food.
Korea does cook up a mean, mean dish that's oh so tempting and oh so delish.
