As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Some Fitspiration to Keep Me Focused and Training Hard

Today's extra dose of fitspiration came courtesy of this man.  I often see him out on the path I run and I've taken his picture before.  I've never talked to him beyond a few words of encouragement and smiles but it's obvious that he once had a stroke or suffered something else because he greatly struggles when he walks.   But he's out on the path all the time and seeing him today was a great reminder to leave the excuses at home and just give it my all.
I feel like I've been training for this marathon for years so keeping my training fresh, full of energy, and giving it my all with it has been hard but when I saw this man today, I felt rejuvenated.  I may be able to do laps around him but he's doing his "level 10 effort" and I should be doing mine, no excuses.  I saw him right as I was finishing up my 6th kilometre and, if you look at my splits pace, you'll notice how I really picked up the pace.
Today's training consisted of a morning run followed by afternoon boxing and weight training... and almost puking over myself too.  Today's run marks my last outdoor run until marathon day and I may do one HIIT on the treadmill on Thursday.
...and speaking of my marathon, my official racing bib arrived today!!!
Out of the 650 full marathon runners, 558 are men and only 92 are women.
