As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Lounging till Party Time with the Boxers... Saturday, August 15

I didn't do much today; I didn't even so much as hit the bags at the boxing club or the weights at System.  My energy level had KO'ed. I played the but-my-week-was-so-busy card, milked it for it was worth and stayed in bed till about 4pm.

I had a pent house party to attend for my boxing club.  It was being hosted by Coach Brown and I was bringing my boy J with me.  I didn't want to go alone because I really don't like crowds of people nor do I like parties, especially ones where I know but only one or two people.  So I brought J.  I figured he'd be the perfect friend to bring because I've known him for something like 14 years, he's very easy-going, and the fact that he's short like me and super adorable means he's very approachable.  Anyways, we showed up fashionable late but with gifts and we stayed for longer than I expected.

The party was a great chance for me to meet many of the other trainers and those exercising at the club but you know how things get when you're the only sober one at a party where everyone is drinking.  It spurred some quite intense conversations while it sparked some questionable ones but it was all good.  I didn't read into it beyond it being a party and people just trying to enjoy themselves.  It was amusing but a certain particular individual was suffering from diarrhea of the mouth so I bounced around trying to dodge him.  A for effort but F for fail!

I thought I'd simply blend into the crowd or at least lean on my boy J for someone to chat to but no sooner did we arrive but then others started introducing themselves to me, telling me that they've heard about me while others flat out told me they Googled me.  "Oh you're the pro boxer from Korea!", one blurted out.  "Yes, that's me".  So much for not knowing anyone.  I really didn't know any of them before arriving but apparently word had spread about me before I even arrived.  I was flattered.  They're a good crew of people and I loved their energy.

Coolest part of the party, I met my sparring partner.  She's ripped and she's too sweet for me to even say I want to kick her butt in the ring.  She's quite the athlete, excelling in boxing and running, and I got served a big piece of humble pie when we talked to her full marathon success.  Nine full marathons, that's how many she has done and that's how many times her result times have kicked my one full marathon time.  Props to her, that's for sure.  I'm all about strong women and them excelling in sports but wow she was inspiring.  She runs to work.  Perhaps I should see about running to work, to the boxing club downtown.  It's about a 30 minute commute by public transportation  but I wonder how long it'd take me to boot it there via jogging.  My roomie (aka my landlady) mentioned the other day about some back park path that can take me downtown but I have yet to figure it out and locate it.  Maybe I'll get me dad to bring my BMX bike to Toronto and I ghetto-style it to work.
