As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Coming Out Balanced with My Calories... Wednesday, September 31

Today there was an excess amount of training...

7:30-9:30am -- core conditioning and boxing with Coach Brown at PB Boxfit
12-1pm -- kettle bell class with Trainer R at System
1:20-2:30pm -- shadow boxing and heavy bag work at System
2:30-3:30pm -- legs weight training at System

At 3:30pm I had clocked in about 5 hours of solid training at two different places -- PB Boxfit and System.  No bloody knuckles and no sore muscles but I knew I had pushed my limits with boxing and tomorrow my legs would be sore and hating me.

After weight training, I went to enjoy a nice protein-packed meal out with one of my buddies who works at System.  I had a meeting at 6:30pm, it was now 4pm, but with only 2 hours to leave Bloor West Village, return home to drop off my gear and shower, then return to the Village here, there was no way I'd be back in time.  Brutal.  It takes me about an hour to commute from home to System and almost as much time to PB Boxfit too because of road construction on Bathurst.  It works out that I travel about 4-5 hours a day for training.  That's a lot; that's too much.  And now that I had this meeting but wasn't able to race home to shower and change for it, it meant that I showed up in sweaty clothes, carrying all my boxing and weight training gear.  I was a hot mess.
So, on that note, I gave my landlady my one month notice today.  I got to move out.

This commute is killing me.

She definitely didn't take the news well.  An argument broke out.  She swore and I took it.  "I'm going to leave right now", I told her.  "Because you're going to say something you regret and I'm going to hit you".  I left the house with tears in my eyes.  A friend had come to pick me up for ice cream and when I jumped in his car I told him "just drive".

I returned a couple of hours later, after I had downed what felt like a few cups of sugar and about my body weight in nuts and sauce.  I walked in, my landlady was on the phone.  I waited till she got off of it and then I hugged her.

No one can get mad after a big warm bear hug.

She had cooled down since I left and the hug made her giggle.  I really have no idea what's going to go on with this month's rent or where I'll be moving to but I can't stay here.  When I first moved to Canada I had moved here not knowing where I'd be working or training out of.  But now I know and now I know this apartment is too far for me.
