As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Procrastination Pays Off... Monday, January 11

I'm often guilty of procrastinating but tonight I procrastinated like it was just nobody's business.  I was supposed to go to System for training at 4pm but 4pm turned into 5pm, then 6pm...and then 8:30pm.

I arrived at 8:33pm.

I was on my 14th round, doing my combos and working the heavy bag in the spinning room when suddenly a tall guy walked by the spinning room where I was training.  I had never seen him at System before but when he raised his hand to touch his hair I instantly knew I had seen him before, just not here.  I couldn't pinpoint where I had met him but I had definitely seen his hand before.  I recognized the tattoo.  It was of an owl.  I had definitely seen that owl before.

He was working out with one of the trainers I know and another guy whom I've also never seen at System.  When I finished my boxing, I joined the area in which they were training and I too started weight training.  Every so often I'd look over at this mystery guy and pick my brain trying to figure out where I knew him from.

Then it hit me.  I knew where I know him from.

He was the promoter who had put on the last boxing tournament I had just attended in December.  I had gone with Canadian Heavy Weight Champ George Chuvalo and just got our seats when this mystery guy came up to him and shook his hand.  That's when I saw the tattoo.  I remember looking as he reached his hand to shake George's and seeing that owl tattoo flash out from his sleeve.

He was over by the cable machines with my trainer friend and their other friend when I approached them, interrupted their conversation and asked if he was in fact who I thought he was.  I was right, it was him, and just like that quite the conversation was sparked and contact info was given.
