As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

The Irish Sparks a Facebook Friend Increase... Tuesday, January 12

I posted a picture of Tim "the Irish" and me on Facebook today, the one I took at his breakfast diner, and almost instantly my Facebook page notifications started going crazy. I assumed he had a following and was connected within the Canadian boxing community but I didn't know he was as popular as he is.  Just today alone I must have received 20+ friend requests on Facebook because of that one picture.  For the most part, if I get friend requests from people I don't particularly know but we have numerous boxing contacts or boxers in common I'll add them.  I am still very new to the boxing community here in Canada so it's all about making connections and getting contacts as much as it is getting my face and name known among those in it.

The last time I got quite the public response from posting a picture with a boxer was back when I posted one with a particular current champion.  It definitely wasn't the same kind of response though and I thought that very interesting to note.

The Irish, he's a hard training boxer but a very humble one and looking at him as he cooks up my breakfast you'd never know that he's even a boxer.  He cleans up real well and looks like the guy next door.  I talked to him today about his training schedule for his upcoming fight and he talked about how he trains twice a day.  He goes in for 5am and then again later in the evening, after working his full time job, yikes.  The Irish just returned from Mexico where he dominated his opponent and took the win but he'll be fighting again here, February 27th at the Hershey Centre.  He's the main event... very cool!!!
