This picture changes everything.
I took this picture today. It's of my new coach and I after our first day of training together.
He took me to Hardknocks Boxing, to see where I was with my boxing.
And no sooner did we finish our training and were stretching but who should show up but the very guy who helped to bring about this massive change in my life -- Sam Vargas, Canadian professional boxer and former NCC Welterweight champ.
I met up with the Mexican later on in the evening, after I had returned home to shower, and we headed out for something to eat but not before we went to "The Shop".
The promoter/manager who has given much added life to the boxing careers of several of us boxers runs his own very successful tattoo shop downtown and it's become the hangout for us. In his window sits some pretty big names in Canada's boxing scene. That's the current heavy weight Canadian champ sitting in between him and the former NCC champ.
In a way, standing there surrounded by other fellow pro boxers, my new crew, it felt like I was back in Korea, back when I first went professional. I had a tight crew of Korean professional boxers whom I saw almost on a daily bases. We trained together and played together. It's only Tuesday but in the past 4 days I have seen these guys everyday and have visited The Shop everyday except for one day. Today I was there twice.
