As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

I Totally Sold It... Tuesday, July 11

My broker texted me the address to the building I was to have my business meeting at so I used it for the Uber.  During my ride there I reopened the text messaged.  I couldn't remember the name of the man I was to meet.  He owns the building in which I saw the other day -- the massive warehouse I'm holding my breath for.  I arrived at the set address and then made an interesting realization.

The name of the man I was to meet was the very same name of the building I had arrived at.

I signed in at the front door security and they escorted me to the elevator when I told them who I was there for.  Up I went were I was assisted by another security officer who then took me down a hallway and asked me to please wait on the couch there.

I got some major looks, looks that questioned who I was to be meeting this man, and I was treated really well.  While I sat there many of the ladies working there stopped by me to ask if I needed anything or could be further helped.

Turns out this man, this man who shared the same name of the building, was also the president of the this large company.  When I met him he was very sweet.  We shook hands and he took me into his office where we sat at his desk and his assistant and my broker sat behind me.

I pulled out my iPad to then deliver my PowerPoint business pitch I had prepared.

He loved my idea!!!

He asked questions, I answered.  We discussed additional points and then he wished me all the best.

"Your idea is a one of a kind," he said.  "I know you will do well."

I left the meeting feeling super positive about it because I know I have a great business idea and I believe that there's a deeper purpose to it, beyond making a paycheck.  I'm aiming to make a community of empowered women.  I'm passionate about my upcoming business and today's meeting only fuelled it even more because I felt he supported my idea and he had been so very encouraging.

He proposed another space for me there on the spot, a spot in his building's basement, and so I headed down to go check it out.  It's massive, much bigger than his other building I saw, but I'm still very much all about the first location -- the location I came here today to discuss.

Later on, after I had returned home, I emailed him to say thank you for our meeting and he responded to my email.

Possible investor?  Maybe.

Regardless of what becomes of today's meeting and that email, I totally was rejuvenated today and I've never felt so close to my dream becoming my reality than I did today.  It was such an amazing feeling to have discussed my business venture with someone outside of my circle, someone who knews nothing about me, and to have them excited for me about it and think it's a wonderful idea... wow, that in itself is indescribable.
