As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Row, Row, Row... Tuesday, July 31

Day One of rowing team training and I loved it.

I was scheduled to attend the 11:15am Finesse rowing class at Saddlerow in Rockwell and, much to my surprise, my teammate ended up joining me.  We joked about me picking someone to "take on and take down" in the class -- someone I was to compete against.  The competitive nature in me is big.  Okay, that's a lie.  It's huge.  I couldn't just coast through a class without making a "healthy" competition out of it.  So I picked the lady beside me.

"That lady beside me," I told my teammate, "she just picked the wrong rowing machine to use".

As it turns out, that was apparently the mayor of Rockwell and it was my teammate who picked the wrong rowing machine to pick.  She's one of the instructors at Saddlerow and today she was my competition.

"You're going down", I said during the row.

"But we're on the same team!" she cried out.

"Yes, but today you're going down!!!"

She proved to be quite the great competition for me so I appreciated her kicking my training up a notch or two... or few.

So far we're a team of two.  We're a small team but a mighty one.  Now we're looking for two more.
