As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

The Lil' Sista Hoodie... Wednesday, August 8

I must say, those who I wanted to work with and those who I'm working with now, totally a different crew.  I'm happy to say I'm glad things I wanted to work out didn't because without that I wouldn't have found myself in the situation I'm in now and with the people I'm here with.

And that includes this adorably cool little hip hop queen, Jamie.  She traveled to Poblacion today to go over business -- the final Lil' Sista Hoodie, design details for another hoodie and a tank top we're working on, and to go over some material options.

To tell you more about why this hoodie is so important and other details, I'll just simply copy and paste what I wrote on the Empowered Clubhouse blog on their official website...

This badass hoodie with it's pop of hot pink and bold I Am Empowered manifesto on the back has been made specifically and exclussively for the Lil' Sistas Project launched by Empowered. The proceeds of this particular sweater (and the Empowered cap) go towards exactly that, the Lil' Sistas. Money raised will be used to buy them boxing gloves and handwraps, as well as fund additional expenses and events hosted specifically for them by Empowered.

What is the Lil' Sistas Project?!

Good question. The Lil' Sistas Project is something that I, Coach Amy of Empowered, launched, a project that stemmed from Holy Family Home, a safe home here in BGC for underprivilaged girls. It is a girls-only home run by nuns, a place where many local orphans and runaways, ages 5-16, reside. Currently we host the Lil' Sista Pow Class for them twice a month but the plan is to expand upon this.

Empowered is all about empowering women but the young girls of today are the women of tomorrow so it's our social duty as "Big Sistas" to help mentor them and provide the support and hope they need to succeed.

Want to help a Lil' Sista out? Fabulous... buy a sweater.

One sweater gets one Lil' Sista a pair of boxing gloves and gives her an opportunity to better empower herself.

FIRST BATCH OF ORDERS DUE: Friday, August 24th, 7pm.

Order online at Empowered Clubhouse.
