As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Blessed to be Stressed... Wednesday, September 26

Crazy cool thing happened to me yesterday; I was unexpectedly approached by an even unexpected possible investor.

My business, Empowered, is looking to open up a private boxing studio.  I have the financials all mapped out and I even have the possible exact location, I just need an investor.  My plan is to go with one investor.  Honestly, I rather someone just loan me the money so that I could pay them back and maintain 100% ownership of my own company, like I did in Korea with Hulk's.  But the plan is to get one investor.  Keep it simple.

I approached an investor that was in on my bigger idea for Empowered, my initial proposal with the large club.  He's very much still interested in my business but l know he has a lot on his plate with his own business dealings so I'm trying not to hold my breath with him.  So when I was approached last night by this new potential investor, my ears perked up.

I was sitting there at The Refined, working on my company emails and whatnot when this gentleman, whom I've met before, pulled up at chair and joined me at the table.  He started asking me questions about my business plan and what started off as general questions ended up getting detailed and more so directed about the financials.  This totally impromptu meeting ended with me emailing him my business proposal and financial breakdown.

I think he might be in.
