As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Feeling Complete... Saturday, September 8

I adopted a little boy today, a four-legged little broken boy.  I called him broken because despite not knowing what he's really experienced and solely based on what I saw and how he's reacted to his new life so far, it's clear he came with issues.  He was definitely bullied.  I saw it go down at the pet place today when the attendant placed him in a different cage with a few other puppies.  One lashed out at him and instantly he backed against the corner of his cage and arched his back like a cat.  That other puppy totally dominated him so we interrupted the scene by asking if we could pick him up.  He had poop smeared across his cheek, his far was a bit smelly, and he looked rough around the edges.  I had my hand on his belly and he crossed his paws around my wrist, as if to refrain me from being able to let him go.  And just like that, I was sold on him.

I had seen him earlier in his cage, when we first arrived.  When I approached his cage he fixed his position, he stood up, almost as if to be more presentable to me.

I had arrived at the pet place right before opening hour but some shops had already opened and were preparing for the start of the business day.

Note to self, NEVER show up at a pet store at the opening hour!!! N-E-V-E-R!!!

All night those animals have been sleeping in their cages, pooping and peeing, so when the worker comes in and slides up the garage door to the front of the shop, they've got all that nastiness to clean up plus the smell of all that to work through.  And then there's the fact that the animals are all starting to wake up so some are super hungry and making noise because of it while others are making noises because they're still trying to sleep and are annoyed.  A place with 10+ animals in it, wow... calling it stinky and noisy doesn't even begin to describe it all.  There were some places that were so smelly even covering my mouth with my sweater couldn't stop me from gagging.  Nasty.

After going through all the shops, I returned to that rough looking white pup that I saw being bullied.  He wasn't the smallest of the chihuahuas that I had seen but he wasn't the biggest either.  He was definitely the dirties though and the most chill.  Upon him being passed into my arms though, I knew he'd be the best for me.

I was so happy I had found him but I was nervous as to how Balboa would react to him.

Arrived at home and introduced the two.

It wasn't until a time later that the new little one started to bounce around and play in the house.  For the most part he stuck to letting Balboa sniff him out and then walking around the house sniffing out his new home.

Balboa accepting him as his new little brother was so awesome.

Our little family felt complete, it felt perfect, and I was so happy I felt I could cry.
