This Saturday I may or may not be adopting a little boy, a four-legged boy.
His name is Cassius.
Back when I had Jo Mi Nam in Korea and Pyen Chi, they played together and all was good until suddenly Mi Nam died. Pyen Chi was devasted, perhaps even as upset about it as I was. We both struggled. I was suggested to get her a new friend, to distract her, and because she had know Mi Nam since she first arrived in my home. And so I adopted Balboa. We called him Balboa Button because he was as cute as a button but the truth of the matter is he was for Pyen Chi. Balboa was Pyen Chi's dog, her little companion.
Balboa has since adopted the middle name Pogi because "mi nam" means handsome in Korean and "pogi" means handsome in Tagalog. It only seemed fitting to have him take on a middle name after the dog he was in a way replacing. Of course he could never replace Mi Nam but he could help to fill a hole in our hearts and help us heal from the lose of Mi Nam and he did just that.
Balboa has adjusted super well to life in Canada and now he's super adjusted to life in the Philippines but it's always bothered me that he doesn't have any companions like he did in Korea. In Korea, he had my other dogs, Pyen Chi and Pacquiao. He gets a lot of attention from both Skittles and I but I know that it breaks his heart a bit every time we're not with him because he is quite the affectionate boy. He loves to be with people. My days are getting longer as I just took on a few more clients and so Balboa is home alone a little bit more these days. I would love for him to have a companion.
His companion is Cassius, if I decide that's the next thing to do.
