As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

A Bere Birthday Party... Friday, January 11

Today was Balboa Button’s 8th birthday so, in traditional fashion, I celebrated it by throwing him a pizza party tonight and giving him some.

I’m not one of those people who loves their pet too much and spoils it rotten but Balboa is also not your usual pet.  He’s moved to three different countries for me of which, his move to the Philippines from Canada, caused the fur on the back of his ears to turn colour.  It’s true.  He has salt and pepper hair now because the flight over was way too much for him.  I was even approached in the airport by an airport worker, when I was making my connecting flight, about him being so stressed out.

Balboa’s birthday came at a perfect time, right when I’ve been mentally struggling with what next to do with forwarding Empowered.

I’m still stuck on launching my private boxing studio but now I’ve been approached regarding taking on a possible more proactive position with another boxing club.

I’m stuck with what to do.

So, for tonight, all I did was focus on Balboa.  As silly as that sounds, me directing my attention towards a little four-legged boy, it was a refreshing break from all that’s been on my mind lately.
