As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Anxiety and Gear Here... Monday, January 14

It's hit-and-miss when I get my supplier in Pakistan to delivery my gear and today I definitely got hit by customs at the post office.  It was painful and my wallet took a punch like none other.  I may be working for free for the next month but hey, I got my gear for my Lil' Sistas.  Of course I'm joking about it right now but today, when it happened, it was definitely no laughing matter.

To be taxed pretty much half the cost of the goods delivered, ouch.  That really hurt.

I was told that next time I should apply for an exemption because the Lil' Slay gear is exclusively for the Lil' Sistas Project but I doubt I'll be buying this many gloves again for the Lil' Sistas anytime soon.  The excmption would have been nice, I can't afford the tax and I almost left in tears because of it, but with both the Lil' Pow Class in Antipolo and in BGC/Makati happening this weekend, I simply don't have the time to leave all the gear at the post office and file for the exemption.

This is the Philippines remember... hello, Filipino time.

So, this time, no exception and holy taxed to such extremes.

In the afternoon, after I finally returned, I felt a bit of an anxiety attack come on.  I was asked to go to the movies but I knew I had work to do and I knew I'd be stuck in that movie with an overdose of anxiety just building bigger and bigger... and bigger.

I settled for being treated to bubble tea and then returned home to work.

Work, work, work.

...and then, of course, I hit the gym for training.
