Last practice before the big game... my first game. My first game of full contact rugby.
I'm still feeling somewhat lost when it comes to some of the plays but my teammates have been pretty good with answering any questions I have and in giving me extra direction. I used to be somewhat intimidated and feel bad whenever they used to yell for me to go there or go here but I was quick to realize they are only try to give me extra help. I appreciate it now.
Saturday, Lady Mavericks have two games. The first game is at noon but with it being a two hour trek out to Laguna, I'll have to rearrange that morning's PT clients and head out early. I'll be taking the club van out with my teammates to the game location. Our second game isn't until 3pm, or 3:30pm, but considering they're 80 minute games, we're definitely going to need the time in between games to recover, rest and recharge. This also means it'll be a full day and I'll have to come loaded with food. Plan is to save my meals from the Six Pack Chef on Friday and bring those with me in a cooler, along with lots of fruit.
Side note to self, don't forget to bring taping for my fingers.
I don't think my fingers will ever feel the same and though in between practice they feel okay, a flick of my finger or putting any kind of extra pressure on my two ring fingers and BOOM... pain. I did abs the other day, Russian twists, and even just holding a medicine ball was making my fingers ache. And to think, people assume boxing would give me injuries when in reality it's rugby that pains me the most, literally.... my fingers, my wrists, my ankles. Oh, and before, when I was in the middle second row of the scrum, it was also my ears. Now I'm on the outside second row, so it's just one ear, singular.
