As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Holiday Frustrations... Thursday, February 14

This is my second Valentine's Day in the Philippines but I don't recall it being as crazy busy as this last year.  Nothing about last year's Valentine's Day stood out but this year... woozer.  Waiting for my Angkas, I think every second girl that walked by me hand flowers in her hand.  And as for getting that Angkas, that was almost an impossible no-go.  I tried for almost an hour to get an Angkas out to Makati for my last client of the day and that just didn't happen.  Ended up having to reschedule for Saturday.  And then, if that wasn't frustrating enough, trying to get an Angkas out to rugby was also a no-go.

No evening client.

No late evening rugby.

And no Valentine's Day date either.

Bought myself a coffee,... treated myself to a coffee... and then walked home.

Even later on in the evening, after I admitted defeat with the struggle to get an Angkas, I went to the gym and no one was their.  Everyone was out celebrating Valentine's Day, that is except me and my should-have-been evening client and all my rugby teammates.

Later on, around 11pm, I meet up with my rugby teammates for a late night team dinner at Mercato, an open food market here in BGC that's just down the street from me.
