As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

On a Mission... Monday, February 4

There's word floating around that the boxing club where I train may be closing.  I won't go into the details of it but will note that I've offered to help keep it afloat but indirectly.  By saying "indirectly", I mean I've offered my advice and help to others trying to come up with a solution and not to those at the top dealing with it, the management.

If Team Insider closes, I'll be devastated.

Coach Marcelo and the other coaches will be forced to find other work and my heart goes out to them.  They are what makes Team Insider the great boxing club that it is.  But Coach Marcelo, wow, it breaks my heart to know he and his girlfriend are having a baby soon but he might possibly be out of work.  He is the sole provider for his new and upcoming little family of three.

A part of me thinks it's so saveable but the other part of me thinks management doesn't want to save it.

Mark my words, if the club closes, I'm going to do everything I can to make sure Coach Marcelo is looked after and has work.  I might have to ask some favors and pull some strings but he's totally worth it.
