As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

She Means Business... Friday, February 1

Me, a month ago, would have had an absolute anxiety panic attack at the realisation that this was the first day of the next month and not just any month but the month before Women's month.  I wanted to have my private boxing studio up and running for March.  It is like THE month to open it; a month that is all about us women.  Unfortunately but fortunately it's not going to be open for March.

Unfortunately... because it'd be the prime time to open it and it's long overdue now.

Fortunately, because I don't know if it's really what I really want to do.

Of course my private boxing studio was always just a stepping stone to my ultimate goal but, now that I have my Lil' Sista Project, my attentions, effort and interest has somewhat changed.  Putting up a private studio is great for my personal training clients but my Lil' Sistas will not be able to enjoy it; they won't be able to train in it.  There are simply too many of them because of the size.  My next step in my business plan, my club, yes, they'll be able to enjoy that but do I really need to go from a private boxing studio to that of a club that all can enjoy?  Do I need that stepping stone or is my idea going off on a much different path?!

I have a new idea... rent a house.

Rent a house, convert part of it into my own boxing studio, and then live in the other part of it.  I lived in my boxing club in Korea so it's not like I'm not used to living in a unconventional home.  I'm definitely down with it and up for doing it again if it means launching an actual facility for my company.  Plus, the perk of renting a house is the possibilities that come with having my own yard!!!  It also means I'd have parking too, huge perk and definitely a necessity for my personal training clients.

I was looking to move out of my condo anyways but if I moved into a house, I could merge my condo rent with that of my business, BOOM.  I'd have more money to spend on a bigger place plus a lot of the issues that come with launching a private boxing studio would greatly decreased because some of them wouldn't be a problem in the first place --- the noise, the neighbours, crazy condo extra costs, parking, no dogs allowed, etc., etc.

It's pretty perfect if you ask me.  Now to find a house.
