It's happening... it's definitely happening.
I may not have money to give to the Center of Hope and the Voice of the Free but I'm always trying my hardest to give them something money can't buy, like my time, my skills and sharing with them my passion for boxing and mentoring their girls. But today, after boxing, I sat down with some of them and discussed some ideas I've been pondering.
Empowered Clubhouse WILL BE ran by Lil' Sistas one day, that's a fact.
Until that day comes though, I'll be starting with hiring one Lil' Sista.
It's a win-win situation for all involved and today they told me they loved my idea. I was absolutely thrilled because I think these girls deserve so much more than they have. The Center of Hope and the Voice of the Free has set them up with the amazing opportunity to heal, recover and grow but there is always something more we all can do not only for the girls but for the Center of Hope and all involved with the management and run of it.
In my head, I'd love to see this start to unfold within the next two months but of course there is a lot to do with preparing this. But to have it accepted by the ladies at the Center of Hope, to hear their excitement, it only made me so much more excited about it. In two months one of the Lil' Sistas may very well be living at my clubhouse and working for Empowered. That is so awesome, I can't even begin to tell you how awesome. The plan would be to hire one of them as my personal assistant and then give her assistant coach responsibilities once I launch my group training, whether that be small team training and/or an after school program I'm contemplating. I could give her assistant coaching responsibilities right away with helping me with the Lil' Pow Boxing Class for the other Lil' Sistas, that'd be amazing. She'd live at the Empowered Clubhouse during the week and then she'd be free to go back to the Center of Hope on the weekend.
I'm so excited about the direction Empowered is heading. It's constantly changing, always evolving, but it's taken on this path that I'm so proud of and so encouraged to follow through with.
