As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

I'm Back... Wednesday, July 17

I think my body is finally back to normal, well, what's normal for me.   Yesterday I just about died at boxing and then I was roughing it out with trying to coach my fighters on what felt like a sub zero energy level.  The weekend in Cebu killed me.  And it killed me not because of the intensity of the games but because of the eating.  They ate pretty dirty, like fried chicken wings and French fries, while I started off joining them but then opted out.  Instead of eating all that they were eating, I just didn't eat.  I tried to find other foods to eat but my choices and sources were limited.

I was so frustrated and confused at just how hard boxing was yesterday.  My body was absolutely hating me and my energy level was so bad.  "So bad" being the understatement here.  I refused to let that stand though as my first day back to training after the big rugby tournament so today I headed back into the boxing club for training.

Today was so much better... with "so much" also being an understatement here.

Note to self: nutrition is key.  If you don't pay attention to anything else -- your training, your sleep, your stress, your whatever -- then at least pay attention to your nutrition.  Nutrition is 70% responsible for how your body looks, feels, and works.

My workout today at the boxing club was a lot more intense than yesterday, definitely, and it was fuelled by not only a few days of solid clean eating but also the notion that my body is recovering from all the junk (and lack there of it too) that I put into it this weekend.  I was on such an endorphin high when I finished padwork and I was still going strong.  Even Coach Marcelo commented about how much better I was from just yesterday.  My condition was so much better.

Now to kick it up a notch and not do that again!!!
