As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Team Spirit... Saturday, July 13

I came to Cebu for the rugby tournament and I came for my teammates, the Lady Mavericks, so anything beyond playing rugby and supporting my teammates was not important to me today.

We won 3 out of our 4 games today... thanks to a ref we all share a common opinion of.

Game three should have been ours but the ref called the try and then took it back, saying it was a forward pass.  Now I'm not going to go into details here and tell you how we're not the only team that's having major issues with, but I will say that when I ran into him at the after party, I was not going to forget it all and be buddy-buddy with him.  I recall telling him to not talk to me.  I'm rather over holding my tongue and being all uncomfortable for those who cause issues, those who cause the uncomfortable situation.  Let them be uncomfortable, I say.  It wasn't my doing, it was his, so if he's uncomfortable then good.  He made it that way.

But anyways, the day was more than just "him".

The day was awesome and the games were super intense; definitely unlike anything I've ever played before.  The games were only 10 minutes long which is a huge adjustment from the 80 minutes games I've been playing with the 15's.  No sooner did the first game start but then it was over, just like that.  I had a good laugh at the fact that the warmup was longer than the actual fight.

After the games, we headed back to the house to shower and then head out to eat.  Eating was then followed by the after party, something that I knew wouldn't be my version of fun.  And I was right.  It wasn't fun for me and it had nothing to do with the fact that I am older than all of my teammates because even when I was their age, fun for me was different.  I don't like crowds so I don't like parties and I don't like meeting new people.  Call me a party pooper, that's fine, but my idea of fun is different.  Regardless, I attended and preoccupied myself with making sure my teammates were safe and stayed at the sight of the party.  One of the girls from the Hong Kong team was beyond drunk, I have no idea why she wasn't cut off, but she ventured into the gas station.  She went in search of bottled water so I trailed behind her, to make sure she was okay.

Upon arriving back at the house after the after party, we then had the Lady Maverick's after-after party, called "The Court". Apparently what happens in The Court stays in The Court and I'd have to kill you if I told you so I'll refrain from spilling the beans.  I will say this though, I owe my buddy for taking all those penalty shots for me.  I don't drink and she said she'd take them for me and that's exactly what she did.  Way to take one for the team, wow.  Major props to her!
