I walked into Pretty HUGE Obstacles today and was greeted by a coach that apparently knows most of the Lady Volcanoes, very cool. I had some question to ask her about what I should wear for the race and whatnot. Now I consider myself super healthy and ultra fit but I'm no fool. I know there's skills that the Spartan Race demands that I'm not learning at boxing and rugby, like rope climbing. I used to rope climb in Korea, at my boxing club actually, and I learnt pretty quickly to use your legs as oppose to just your arms to pull you up. Your legs are stronger than your arms, obviously, but so many people climb with just their upper body. I know better. I know better how to climb the rope but I don't really know how to approach any of the other obstacles because I've never been challenged to such obstacles. It'd be nice to have a kind of glimpse of what to expect this weekend and so tomorrow I'm going to do a kind of crash course in obstacles here, at Pretty HUGE Obstacles.
The Spartan Race is this week, Sunday, my training starts tomorrow, Wednesday.
Better late than never?! Oh gosh. This is ultra late, I know.
I was reassured by the coach at the gym that I'd do just fine, "just be comfortable doing burpees", she added. For any obstacle you can't complete or fail, you'll have to do 30 burpees. There are 30+ obstacles though. I hate, hate, HATE burpees. I hate them so much I don't even give them to my fighters actually.
900+ burpees or 30+ obstacles... I'll take the obstacles, thanks.
