As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

And Then there was 4... Sunday, December 8

I have a fourth dog now here in the Philippines.  Totally not expected but somewhat expected.

I wanted to get a fourth dog but not until spring next year or, at the very earliest, when I return from Canada after Christmas.  But, as fate would have it, I locked eyes with this little girl with jet black eyes that kind of scared me at the first glance, and just like that I was sold on her.

I've been trying for a few months actually to arrange to get to a few rescue places but many of them aren't open on Sundays or they're way out of town.  I don't usually have a good chunk of the day available but when I do, it's almost always a Sunday.  Today was one of those days.  The plan was to go to Cartimar to try to search out this particular Nike shoe but, while there, I decided I wanted to go check out the dogs.  More specifically though, I wanted to check out the dogs up for adoption at the rescue centers.  I've been waiting since November 2nd for one to respond to my message while the others weren't picking up their phones or weren't even open to pick up my call.  And then some of them didn't even have the correct number listed.

Nothing like an overdose of frustration to really take the excitement out of trying to adopt.

In between trying to contact about 4 of them today, four different rescue places that is, I killed time walking up and down the long isle of animal shops.  I had my eye on these two Belgiums but couldn't decide on which one I liked more.

Side note here, I can never return to the place where I got Cassius.  I was such a Bully Bere there, yikes.  I totally gave the guy a hard time about this stressed out little puppy there that I saw last week and that was still there.   They told me it was 12,000Php and I offered him 5,000.  I didn't want another Chihuahua or another male dog but after I saw it last week, I felt like I should have said something to the workers about it's rough condition.  It looked just like Cassius when I got him -- balding, stressed out, blood shot eyes, and all bones.  I thought a lot about that puppy this week actually and I felt so bad for not voicing my disgust to the guy.  Today I let him have it though.  I won't get into what I said but I made a scene in the pet store and other customers were all shocked.

Yes, I was the "crazy white girl" who told him he treated his dogs like s#!+.

"5,000Php", I repeated to him, "5,000Php because when I take him to the vet, he's going to have a billion problems and it's going to cost me 10,000Php for them to surgically remove his balls from his insides because of the stress you put your animals under!  So that 12,000Php dog is going to cost me 22,000Php and him having messed up health for the rest of his life."

Ya, I can never return and ya, so maybe I did get into what I said.  That's not all I said though.

Anyways... that was the only Bully Bere venting I did today, the rest was all unicorns and rainbows.

As for the little four-legged girl I now added to my squad, she's an Askal/Labrador mix.  I was on my way out when I spotted some dogs in these stacked up cages so I asked what kind of dog they were.  When they said Askal mix, I was instantly curious.   You see, I really want a dog that will be loyal and be super active with me.  I want a dog I can bring around the city and go running with.

Cassius could never last a run with me; it'd exhaust him.
Rousey would literally die running with me because of her nose and breathing situation.
Balboa could last my run but he's way too skiddish to handle on a run.

So, viola, Namajunas.  She's my new running partner in training.

All the dogs at Cartimar are quite expensive with 10,000Php being the starting price.

Namajunas, she was 1,000Php.  She was 1,000Php and worth every single snicker and giggle I got from people reacting to how happy I was when I scooped her up in my arms and announced "she's mine".  She's priceless actually.
