As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Time Tells... Saturday, December 28

This past year two friends of mine from Canada visited me in the Philippines and today I got to sit down with one of them for lunch.  Her cousin, who was also visiting the Philippines and whom I met there, also joined us for the meal.

Funny thing is, back when I lived in Toronto, her and I weren't really close.  I remember first meeting her at Clancy's Boxing and then her putting her lipstick on me at the Agency Wars after party, when I told her her lipstick seemed like warpaint.  It just didn't come off; I was impressed.

Years later and miles apart, now we're super cool though.

We're kind of like social media buddies, messaging each other all the time.

I kind of wish we met like this before I left for the Philippines though.  It would have been cool to have a friend like her to hang out with.  Everything has it's timing though, I suppose.  It's like friends from high school and back in the day that I didn't really talk to but now we're good friends.  Whereas others that I was super close with growing up, friends you thought you'd always be joined at the hips, are no where to be seen.

I still haven't seen the Captain since I've arrived.  He's rather MIA.  And while he says he's sick and I know he just recently got a condo with his new girlfriend, not seeing him has been the biggest disappointment of this trip.  I've got guys I randomly and briefly dating asking to meet up with me for coffee but the Captain, one of my best friends, a friend who actually visited me in the Philippines, has yet to meet up.  I don't know what to make of that except that I'm hurt.
