As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

With Snickers MIA, I've been depending on Mi Nam to keep me company.
Cuddles for Mi Nam...
kisses for Mi Nam...

and in return, I get a lot of love, a four-legged companion, and a pretty sweet pillow.

Hey Amy,
I love these pictures of you and Mi Nam. He is such a cutie and I’m sure he keeps you company while your husband is away. You asked how my training is going. I look forward to each session of course and I know how you must miss it while resting those bruises. You are always an inspiration when it comes to boxing and keeping fit. I have learned a lot sparring with Shauna for sure although her jabs to tend to sting but that is part of learning right? I’m still amazed by when I think I see an opening to get my jab in and try to execute it she gets that left jab in. I’m always trying to increase my footwork speed to avoid getting hit. I’ll keep you informed on the training for sure. If you have any advice let me know. Rest up also!

Hi Fabi,
Ah, thanks Fabi ;) Very sweet of you to say that and thanks for the hugs, much needed!

Yo Beth,
Mi Nam is awesome company for me but sometimes he tries a little too hard to keep me company, like when I'm showering and he insists on trying to open the door... hahaha. I swear, when I am home he's never more than a foot away from me.
Am definitely glad to be back at boxing and am going strong with it, as with my running. Will be doing my first half marathon in about a week so I'm excited about that!!!
Am so jealous you and Shauna have regular sparring sessions, that's so awesome and I can't stress how much it is for improving your boxing skills and picking up tips and whatnot. EVERYTHING is a learning experience so soak up all you can when sparring!!!
By the way, have you tried to incorporate a little of weight training in with your boxing?
