As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

What's Your Number?!... Monday, November 8

A late evening knock at the door was followed by a large bark from Mi Nam. It was the delivery man at my door with a special package for me. No sooner had I closed the door but I was already ripping it open. It was my half marathon package: sponsor shirt, runner number, the little do-hicky time recorder thing for your shoe, and an info packet about the event.

Some interesting facts I found out in the info pack.

FULL MARATHON - 340 male athletes but only 15 females registered.

HALF MARATHON - There are 661 male athletes registered but only 80 females, of which a surprising 16 females are foreigners. I’m actually registered under “Amy B-Kim” because there’s another Amy running… ya for us Amys!!! My runner number is 4061.

10KM RACE - 1,278 male athletes but only 261 females registered.

5KM RACE - 239 male athletes and 214 female athletes registered.
I thought there’d be a lot more runners participating but I guess with marathons popping up every weekend in Korea it kind of takes it’s toll on the numbers. For next weekend’s race day, a total of 3,088 athletes are gearing up to sweet it out and push it on the Han River path, and I'm really looking forward to it.

Gonna go represent... hahaha!!!

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
What am I really representing?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
