As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

BESTEST of Besties... Monday, December 24

My Flipside Fitness A Very, Merry Sugarplum Christmas will MOST DEFINITELY go down as my best of best Christmases ever spent in Korea!!!

My past Christmases... (if that's even such a word)

CHRISTMAS 2005
It was anticipated to be my first ever Christmas in Korea but after I decided to stay another year at my hagwon (which ended up not happening), my hagwon director flew me to Canada on Christmas Eve.  I arrived at the doorstep of my parent's house with just an hour left until Christmas and started throwing snowballs at my brother's window.  My brother spun me around, my mother cried and my father stood there speechless.  Got to meet my oldest brother's new born baby girl.  Best Christmas ever but because it wasn't technically spent in Korea, it doesn't count for best Christmas ever IN Korea.

CHRISTMAS 2006
Runner up for worst Christmas ever spent in Korea.  After breaking up with the Notorious Ex, it took me a good couple of months to recover from having my heart ripped out and stomped on.  Christmas happened to fall right in the middle of these recovery months, as did adopting Mi Nam.  Drama Boy tried to help nurse me back to the normal me but in doing so he apparently thought he had fallen in love with me.  I was appreciative of the super sweet Christmas he gave me but I was still way too broken-hearted to really enjoy or appreciate it.

CHRISTMAS 2007
Spent it with Q.  He cooked me a meal at his house and then we exchanged gifts.

CHRISTMAS 2008
Second Christmas with Q but with an upcoming fight scheduled and a huge drop in weight I had to do but no real plan on how to lose it, I couldn't comfortably enjoy our Christmas dinner together.

CHRISTMAS 2009
I had just got engaged right before Christmas this year so I woke up as Snickers' fiance.  We had gone to a small neighboring church to watch their Christmas play but they sang traditional non-church related Christmas carols like "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer" and everyone in the audience had a part in the play so it was rather strange to sit through.  We headed out for a Christmas Eve dinner but then went into lazy mode on Christmas, spending the whole day watching Christmas movies and listening to carols.  Definitely the laziest Christmas ever!!!

CHRISTMAS 2010
Ok, so waking up Christmas morning as "Mrs. Kim" was cool but considering I got married in January that year, I had basically a year of waking up as Mrs. Kim to get used to.  We had a pretty simple and sweet Christmas -- dinner out at a favorite restaurant and then we shared a Christmas cake Snickers had surprised me with.

CHRISTMAS 2011
Worst Christmas ever!!!  Not only did Snickers not buy me a Christmas present after not buying me one last year and me making a stink about it, but then he left in the evening to go hang out with buddies.  Throw in the fact that my beloved four-legged sidekick Mi Nam died just before Christmas and ya, terrible.  When Snickers headed out to see friends, I headed out to where we had buried Mi Nam.  It was also my first Christmas since my mother's death so it was quite an emotional one considering the double-lost -- my mother and Mi Nam.  Swore I'd never ever spend another Christmas in Korea -- this Christmas was way too hard for me.

CHRISTMAS 2012
Best Christmas ever in Korea!!!  Spent it with my house packed full of very awesome, very sweet gal-pals that all support Flipside Fitness, all whom attend my boxercise classes, and all of I'm so grateful to have in my life.
