I am way too excited and eager to jump into
my much-anticipated adventure to feel sorry for leaving, sad for going, or bad
for doing this without them, and by them I mean my teammates and coach. I've been super hyper about what's about to come -- my dream that will soon be my reality -- and so I've been bringing so much energy to training these days. Even Junior Mint noted my excessive energy and asked me how many coffees I had drank... hahaha.
Lately I've picked a new motto song for myself -- Kelly Clarkson's "What Doesn't Kill You" song. I've been listening to it none stop, literally. I'm talking about bribing a kid at training to sit and press repeat on my hooked-to-the-stereo ipod so that I can blast it for all to here. That's exactly what went down tonight at training. My training lasted about an hour and a half, and with it being a song that's exactly 3:41 in length, that meant they listened to it roughly TWENTY-SIX times. Yup, that's right. Twenty-six times of the same English-only song that no one but me understood at training tonight. Can't say this is a strange new habit of mine, no not at all. They're quite familiar with me doing this when I'm trying for a fight. I get a particular song in my head and it becomes my motto song.
As for Kelly Clarkson's song, "What Doesn't Kill You", I dedicate this to KBC -- the Korean Boxing Commission -- for setting me up to deal with obstacles well beyond that which my opponents bring to a fight, for all the labels it has thrown on maybe not necessarily me but on Snickers. For letting his former coach return what wasn't his to return (Snickers' Super Light Champion title belt), for not protecting or defending him against such nonsense, and for letting him struggle ever since.
Payback is a bi$c# and consider this ours.
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger, so while they think that both Snickers and I are out of the boxing spotlight and have hung up our gloves, boy do I have news for them. We'll be back, you just wait soon enough. We'll be back and we're going to be stronger than ever with our very own boxing family, our own boxing club, and our own rules and game play. I am going to eat, sleep, breath and work boxing like it's the only thing I can do and our boxing club is going to rock. None of this discrimination or nonsense. The foreigners are going to be treated like people, like family members, not outsiders, and their voice will matter to us. It's what IS going to make us. And though KBC thought they had heard the last of us but we're coming back. And with fist swinging and a whole new bred of boxers behind us, we're definitely going to be stronger than before!!! Thank you KBC and thanks to everyone and anyone who ever doubted Snickers and I. This is just the beginning!

Kelly Clarkson
What Doesn’t Kill You (Stronger)
You know the bed feels warmer
Sleeping here alone
You know I dream in color
And do the things I want!
You think you've got the best of me
Think you've had enough the last laugh
Bet you think that everything good is gone
Think you left me broken down
Think that I'd come running back
Baby, you don't know me, 'cause you're dead wrong
Chorus:
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes you fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone
Bridge:
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
You heard that I was starting over with someone new They told you I was moving on, over you
You didn't think that I'd come back
I'd come back swinging
You tried to break me, but you see
Chorus:
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
What doesn't kill you makes you fighter
Footsteps even lighter
Doesn't mean I'm over 'cause you're gone
Bridge:
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, stronger
Just me, myself and I
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Stand a little taller
Doesn't mean I'm lonely when I'm alone
Thanks to you I got a new thing started
Thanks to you I'm not the broken-hearted
Thanks to you I'm finally thinking 'bout me
You know in the end the day you left is just my beginning
In the end.
