Auntie Almond and Auntie Hansol (Brooklyn’s
mom) got word that we were out their way so they insisted we come for a quick visit after we tended to a meeting we had, so that’s what we did. Auntie Almond works at a chocolate factory so
she’s always trying to stuff chocolates and almonds in my pocket. Whereas Auntie Hansol, she owns her own
corner shop, so visiting her is always accompanied by her insisting we take
anything and everything we want from her store shelves. And both Auntie Almond and Auntie Hansol are
K-Gere’s sisters (Snickers’ aunts). I
left with only a mocha-flavoured Kit Kat in my pocket – talk about fighting the
peer pressure though, woozers.
The other day Brooklyn had come across some
aged-old family videos, dating some 20 plus years back, so he eagerly
wanted to show us some clips. Low and
behold, what should pop up on the screen but an overly-hyper cute little boy
and his grandfather – Snickers and the deceased Grandpa Kim. Granny Kim was in the video too. She sported the same smiley face and giggle
but her body looked so strong, as did Grandpa Kim’s body. I was so fixated on watching Snickers
though. He’s jumped in and out of the
video shots, dancing and singing. There
was this one scene where his younger cousin insisted on using the microphone he
was singing with. She continually
grabbed at him and at one point even hit him.
And Snickers, in his true mischievous nature, gave the microphone to her
to use when his uncle told him too, only after unplugging it though.
It was so wild to see Snickers in the
video. He was a skinny little kid but he
sported the carefree attitude and sarcastic humor that he still to this day
sports. You could totally tell it was him;
it was amazing.
