As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Kicked my Own Butt at Training Today... Wednesday, August 13

Nothing like having some sponsors tell you they're going to watch you run to really add some extra pressure to your training.  Throw in the fact that I had only slept for four hours and a 8:30am wake up is brutally early in my world, and ya, I knew today's early morning training would require every last ounce of determination and energy on my behalf.  Snickers had told me last night that I'd be running with Kato, our prized amateur boxer, but today he noted that it'd just be Kato and I and that I was to teach him proper form as we're running, great.  So not only did I have to wake up at the crack of dawn and run while sponsors watched but a beginner runner was joining me?!  Great.

"You're going to keep up!" I told him.
"But if I can't, don't worry, just keep on going" Kato said.
"Oh I'll punch you in the bum if it means making you keep up so... just run fast!"

I haven't hit the outdoor paths for running for a couple of months now nor am I especially interested to because now I have two treadmills right outside my bedroom.  Moreover I'm much more focused on my boxing, consequently my running has become more or less just a warm-up, another exercise to assist the focus of my training.

With sleep lines still on my face, I hit the path at Dankook lake, just Kato and I, and it was rather nerve racking having sponsors and my coach watch us as we went around and around the lake.  I was told to do three laps, that's just under 7km, and to keep my pacing under 5 minutes per kilometer.  Three laps completed and under the expected pacing too, awesome.  It was a rough run though because of all the vegetation that made the air rather stuffy.

With today's running completed, I wanted to bask in my success with making my sponsors and my coach happy but it was back to Hulk's for more training.  Snickers went over some weight training exercises he wanted me to focus on, I had a meal and a quick nap, I then cleaned the club (that in itself was a workout considering I did it alone), and then I opened up the club and did my boxing and ab crossfit class.  Snickers left for his mini vacation shortly after I prepped my post-training meal and he won't be back until Friday morning.  It was rather rough having a jam-packed morning and then having to manage the club by myself and get in my training but it worked out good.  I managed though I must admit I had to resort to a second cup of coffee to help push me through the busyness of the day.
