As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

An Overdose of Sweetness... Wednesday, September 24

As if waking up to a naked massage wasn't enough, my masseuse was the one who was totally buck naked and it was I who was clothed.  Ya, not the massage I expected but hey, when your husband is gorgeous and he wants to start your day off like such, who's to argue?!  Exactly.  That's exactly how Snickers woke me up today -- he gave me a massage before I headed out to run.  He said it'd wake me up and give me energy and he was 100% right.  Got to love a man that not only supports you but who goes the extra mile.  I tell you, when Snickers is good he's gooooood, but when he's bad, oh boy, he's rotten and totally sour.  Today he sported an overdose of sweetness and the morning massage was just the start of it.

[Enter you knowing full well I'm going to tell you about it here and wave my bragging rights.]

It was raining outside when I woke up for my morning run and though I favour the winter chill and winter snow, rain is not my thing for running.  I love rainy days but only as long as they're not the days I'm running.

Snickers got out of bed and walked me to the edge of the juice bar counter (he was still in the buff), and then he kissed me farewell as I headed out the door to go running.  About the time I was finishing my run and Snickers was anticipating my return, he called me to see where I was.  Turns out he wanted to make sure he was home in time to surprise me with something he had snuck out and bought me.  When I arrived back at Hulk's, Snickers was sitting in the front window (now somewhat clothed) with a big grin on his face.  He opened the door, helped me take off my soaked runners and socks.  He then rushed past me so that when I reached the juice bar counter he was standing there with a bag in front of him.  Apparently while I was out running, he had gone out and bought me raw bibimbap which is only my favourite of favourite Korean dishes!!!  It's an overdose of protein (raw beef) with an equally overdose amount of fresh veggies -- pure delish.

But I'm not done... the sweetness continued!!!

I always nap after my morning run.  Going to bed around 3am and waking up at 8am is rough so I always compensate with a post run nap.  My nap is usually only 1 hour in length but today Snickers turned off my alarm clock without me knowing and then let me continue to sleep much longer than anticipated.  Three hours later, I woke up and it was well beyond opening time.  Snickers had cleaned the entire club by himself and not only did he do that but he had walked all three pups by himself too. Cleaning the club is a big task but doing it alone is definitely not easy nor is handling all three pups by yourself outside.

And then I had boxing and weight training.  I totally anticipated him giving me a hard time about starting my training late but he didn't so I was sure he'd hassle me during padwork.  Padwork was lengthy today, a good solid 30 minutes of non stop but it was good.  It was surprisingly really good, so in good in fact that when members started arriving for training we didn't stop but instead then had a bit of an audience.  And we didn't just do an overkill on the basic 1-2, we did some defense work.  After I had pretty much sweated my brains out, Snickers ended our padwork and then had me do some more heavy bag work.  "You did really great today, I'm proud of you", he said.  I threw my arms around his neck and hugged him.  I've been working so hard with him and for him, so that one sentence meant the world to me.

As for the rest of the day and sweetness that followed, it involved a lot of winks, random kisses and other PDA that I'm sure would leave you pushing your finger down your throat, wanting to gag.  It was a good day, a great day.  It was an overdose of sweetness-from-the-hubby kind of day to which it ended with me giggling and asking, "Ok, so what do you want?!" ...hahaha.
