As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Highlights of my Day... Thursday, November 16

1. When I was younger my mom and I once watched this cheap, low-production movie about “double gangers”. The plot of the movie stemmed on the idea that everyone has a double in life but if you see your double, you’re to turn and run! Apparently seeing your double ganger means death is coming for you. Well, today I dreamed that I was on a mission to seek out my “double ganger” only to discover that I was the double ganger and not the original Amy!!! ㅋㅋㅋ
2. My voice was a bit better today but it was still so painful to talk. I found it rather frustrating and insulting that all but two of my co-workers seemed concerned about my situation. The one co-worker, Ms. Lai, works in the office. Her and I are the youngest on staff. My other concerned co-worker was my assistant who assists me with the level 2 classes. She insisted I sit, relax, and drink some tea.
3. I couldn’t do it… I couldn’t talk. By period 2 I was struggling to talk; it was too painful and I was nervous I’d really damage my voice box. I couldn’t get out of teaching my classes today and so for 3 out of the 5 classes I let them watch taped episodes of “Friends”.
4. My brutal voice was a big hit among my students. They all found it so funny and apparently they thought I was joking around. They kept on saying, “Ms. B volume up”.
5. I had promised my two level 3 classes that we’d have a snack party today and well, it turned into more of a feast! It was disgusting actually! I’m talking about mounds and mounds of chips, cookies and any kind of junk food found under the sun! ㅋㅋㅋ.
6. Class 2-1’s couple, Login and Joel (yes, she picked an boy’s name for herself) broke up yesterday and so getting them to perform their “Good Morning Korea” English TV Show for the class was like pulling teeth. Joel is quite the actress though and so she threw a fit, flipped over her chair, and then stormed out of the classroom crying.
7. My assistant continued on with the class while I rushed off to go search out Joel. I found her sitting on the floor in the bathroom. There we were, sitting on the floor. I tried to cheer her up and so I blurted out, “You want a good boyfriend, buy a dog!” She laughed and then we went back to class.
8. Lately I’ve been working-out in my building’s courtyard. Tonight while I was skipping I noticed some random Korean man looking at me. At first I thought nothing of it but when I finished my training I started talking to my friend B on the phone and that’s when I took a walk around and spotted him crouched in a corner peering up at me. Freak!
9. I found it rather ironic how prior to coming to Korea, I couldn’t tell the difference between Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, etc. in regards to physical appearance but now I can and yet now it’s Western people I can’t differentiate. Tonight I watched an American movie, “Departed”, and it starred two leading American actors, Leonard DiCaprio and Matt Damon, along with many other American men who I just thought all looked the same. So I struggled with the storyline cause I couldn’t tell who was who.
10. By 11pm I was struggling to stay awake. Ryan says I should go see a doctor but visiting the doctor’s here means getting a shot in the butt and I’m not cool with that nor do I see how that’ll help my throat. ㅋㅋㅋ

QUESTION OF THE DAY...
Do they have NeoCitron in Korea?

QUOTE OF THE DAY...
I love to like.
