As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Don't Ask Me Why I Box and I Won't Ask You Why You Don't... Sunday, July 1

30 Reasons why Boxercise with Flipside Fitness Rocks…

1. What better way to start your day off right and on a positive note than to join a group of fabulous gals.
2. Punching the sandbags is a perfect stress-reliever!
3. Perfect means of meeting other fitness-minded women.
4. If you’re tired, don’t worry, you’ll definitely be able to feed off the energy of those in attendance and perk up.
5. It’s a great workout if you’re new to working out or are looking for a fun, new interesting way to exercise.
6. It’s a fool-proof way to a wickedly intense workout – the proof being in the fact that some ladies don’t come back. No pain, no gain. Some just don’t want the gain bad enough to suck it up and accept the pain.
7. It’s a healthier alternative to doing the usual foreign social activities – hitting the bar and shooting pool.
8. Our membership is quite diverse – we all come from different countries, different background, different fitness and health levels – so everyone and anyone fits the group’s diverse dynamics.
9. What else are you going to do on a Saturday or Sunday morning?!
10. Perfect way to bounce back from a not-so-healthy late night… you know what I’m talking about!
11. Full of fun, fitness-minded ladies that are all trying to better their health and improve their fitness.
12. With a collection of women all trying to better themselves, it’s a perfect opportunity to share experiences, tips, information, and guidance.
13. No guys allowed, which means such drama that comes with having a mixed group is not even an issue. It might be something we joke about over lunch together but that’s the closest it comes to being present.
14. Raises confidence levels.
15. Raises a sense of self awareness to one’s health and you’ll develop a sense of accountability towards it.
16. Every gal needs a great gal pal and with a large group that continually comes out week after week there are a lot of friends to be made.
17. On days you’re lacking in motivation, I’ll definitely kick you into high gear and make you train harder than you would have pushed yourself.
18. Flipside Fitness is so much more than a group of women that train together. We’re a continual support system for each other.
19. It sure beats training alone. Training alone flat out sucks and can be so unmotivating.
20. You can’t cheat the workout because if you do, I will catch you and push you harder!
21. You’ll learn the moves of a boxer during a workout that’s like aerobics.
22. Boxercise incorporates both cardio training and circuit weight training.
23. It’s pretty cool to learn the moves of real professional boxers.
24. It’s a challenging workout that we’re always trying to take to a new level, like adding different weight training circuits and sparring.
25. Learning how to defend your self is super important, especially for women.
26. Nothing feels quite like knowing you just did a wickedly intense workout.
27. It makes the weak strong and the strong stronger, and on more levels than just physicality.
28. You’ve got nothing to lose by trying except for perhaps inches and pounds.
29. One lesson only costs you $15, which is pretty cheap when you consider just how valuable your health is!
30. The ladies that train together stick together!!! And isn’t that just an awesome feeling that someone in this far-from-your-home country has your back?!
