As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Step Aside, No Room for a Lack of Fierceness on this Path... Thursday, March 14

With next month being the annual Cheonan Sangnok Restort Marathon races, I’ve decided to make it a Flipside Fitness event. I’ve called it A Day At the Races – Round Two. Like last year, the races will consist of a 5km, 10km, half and full marathon. The plan is get a solid group of at least 20 participants to register under our name, Flipside Fitness because in addition to getting our company’s name published in the event magazine and website, we’ll get a designated tent spot on race day. Last year this proved to be quite the awesome bonus of registering a group because it was chilly. La Cubo supplied us with a massive plastic sheet that we wrapped around our tent poles and it kept our runners happy and warm. It’s also a safe and secure place for all our runners to keep their stuff while participating in their assigned race.

Some of my K-Crew have jumped in on this event and will be joining Flipside Fitness – Cheetoh Girl, Mouse Doctor, Black Skinny and I’m trying to convince 4Man-C to also join us.  The three of them who have confirmed they’re joining us are all doing the half marathon which is awesome but super inspiring considered they’ve never done a half before – Cheetoh Girl has never even so much has done a 5km race!!! I’m trying to convince two of my Flipside Fitness gals – the two I ran with yesterday -- to up their races to the half because I really believe they can do it.  I remember the incredible hype around last year’s races and how so many of our group’s participants were just so incredibly proud and overjoyed at their success.  I really am anticipating this scene to take place again but I’d love to up the stakes and push their potential; have them do a race length that is really challenging.  As for me, this will be the second time I ran the half at this particular annual event.  I thought about doing the full but with many of my crew doing the half, I really want to be able to run alongside them and cheer them on.

Tonight I headed out for the weekly Flipside Fitness ROBO Time (Running Our Butts Off) and I was joined by two of my Flipside females.  We headed out at 7:30pm with no real expectations on how long or how far we’d run, just with destination Dankook on our minds.
Monday – 15km
Tuesday – 17km
Wednesday – rest day
Thursday – 11km
Friday – undecided yet
Only three of my Flipside Fitness females have taken me up on the offer to go running with them but I tell you, the three are definitely kicking my butt with their eagerness to train. I’ve got nothing but respect and props for them. They train hard!

Quality vs. quantity, makes a huge difference!!!

In addition to these three, Cheetoh Girl and Black Skinny have asked me to help them with their half marathon training. I think telling Black Skinny that two other girls would be training with me tonight intimidated him a bit so he headed off to train alone. We ended up catching up with him though and he noted that he wants to train with me on Friday evening, with Cheetoh Girl.

I am totally sold on the power of running partners, seriously. Tuesday we had such a great run together and tonight’s run was super too. Tonight Atomic-B had joined ROBO Time. It’s been about 3 months since Atomic-B had gone running so that combined with the fact her usual runs are only 5km and tonight we had her do 11km… impressive.

After our solid run of 11km, one gal headed home and the other (Atomic-B) and I headed back to my place to shower up, enjoy a healthy post-training meal together and hang out. And as I went to grab the shampoo so that I could shower in the other bathroom and she use that one, I slipped on the edge of the toilet seat I was balancing on and CRASH!!!! Actually, it was more like a SNAP—CRASH—SLASH—“Oh $#it… real $#it!!!”

Turns out Baby Pac had an in-house poop accident so Snickers scooped it up, threw it in the toilet and, as I found out with it being thrown all over my pants and squished in my socks, he forgot to flush it! Ya… NASTY!!! For the next five minutes or so all I could do was stand there laughing at myself with Atomic-B. When I got undressed for my shower, a few minutes later, it was then that I noticed a massive goose egg had swelled up on my leg! Woozers!!!
