With our new boxing club being named after my husband's boxing nickname -- the Korean Hulk -- it was inevitable that'd we play upon a superhero theme. We've got Thundra, representing Flipside Fitness and tying Flipside Fitness nicey into the boxing club, Snickers obviously as the Hulk, and we have our two crossfit men -- Trainer Thor and Trainer Stark.
"What superhero do you want to be?" Snickers asked me. "I already am one", I responded, "I am female so I am Iron Man." This obviously confused him so I explained my reasoning behind it.
"Well, 'Fe' is iron on the periodic table,
male is another word for man
... thus me being female mean I am Iron Man."
... thus me being female mean I am Iron Man."
"I am Iron Man by birth" I told him.
"But Iron Man doesn't have breasts" he responded, "and neither do I... thanks to boxing" I added.
He had a good laugh at that but he didn't deny me being Iron Man though he did argue my breast comment. "Yes," he finally responded, "Being a foreign female in Korea needs iron". He didn't exactly get what I had said but I appreciated him recongnizing that there are definitely challenges with being a foreign female in Korea, especially one that doesn't exactly fit the "female" mold here. I'd like to note here that Snickers has always been awesome like that, giving me props and supporting me being a strong woman. When he proposed to me, in his speech he told me "You are the hero in my life". [Feel free to add any "make-me-gag" smirks here but trust me if it were being said to you you'd melt like butter on a hot frying pan!!!!]
