As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Late Night Puppy Play... Sunday, May 26

Saturdays are our days off and Sundays are our short work days – 2pm to 8pm, 6hours work – but this weekend I spent 26 hours here.  Both last night and tonight we’ve left after 2am.  Snickers wanted to stay late tonight on account of the UFC fights that were on repeat on TV so I made a deal with him – I’d stay late if he brought our whole four-legged family here.  That’s exactly what he did, too.  He brought Pyen Chi, Balboa and Pacquiao to Hulk’s and together we played, then together we watched a movie.  The little ones absolutely loved the club and they seemed to not be able to explore it enough and jump around enough.  By the time we tuned into the late night movie, they had pretty much exhausted themselves so I scooped Balboa and Pacquiao up and got cozy on the couches we had pulled to the front of the club.  It’s quite chilly at Hulk’s though so Pyen Chi and her massive coat of fur definitely helped me out.  I won rights to hogging her to myself during movie time thanks to a little game of dirty rock-paper-scissors, and by dirty I mean I totally cheated and changed the usual rules… hahaha.

While we were watching the movie, Snickers turned to me and asked me, “Would you want to live here?”.  Yes, I totally would… if I didn’t have the two little dogs.  Balboa would scare the heck out of our members with his ankle-high height and waist-high continual jumping bean manner and Pacquiao still is anti-social with people and not tolerant of anyone but me being beside him.  I like the distinction though, having a home to live and a club to train/work at but I know as time goes on my like will turn to need.  There’s got to be a line made between personal and business and already that line is very clouded enough.  I think making the club both our home and work place will clearly erase that line.
