As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Leaving Korea... Friday, May 24

I got offered a fight in China and Snickers got offered a fight in Australia.  My proposed fight isn't until August and Snickers' is in two weeks but it was offered to him tonight.   My promoter called late in the evening, eagerly looking to help fill a fight card and he asked me if Snickers was interested.  I'm still very much interested in fighting but I was sure Snickers wouldn't even consider the offer.

He considered it.

The whole situation with his former coach is still a sensitive issue but now Snickers has a brand new reason to fight -- to represent Hulk's.  He has no coach but the rights to his and my boxing license is still very unclear and questionable.  We'll have to deal with confronting Junior Mint and then filing papers with the Korean Boxing Commissioner's office.

It was about 11pm when my promoter called and no sooner did I approach Snickers regarding the fight but he geared up and got down to training.  I too also got down to training.  A couple of our members were here wanting to train with us and consequently fell "victim" to our intense training.

No sooner did I get off the phone, talk to Snickers and then start training, but then I got an email from a friend in the States, inquiring us taking on his wife.  His wife is a professional female boxer who is wanting to travel to Korea to fight.  She's interested in staying 4-5 weeks in the summer so my friend thought about us being her hook up.  Right now as it stands, we're not particularly interested in taking on the responsibility for managing professional fighters but I think it'd be awesome to have her come here to train.  I could introduce her to my promoter for fights and have her train out of our club.  It'd bring the number of pro boxers training out of Hulk's up to five, that's wicked, but for me it'd be such a great experience for me to be training with another female professional boxer especially considering we're very close in weight categories.  She could be a sparring partner for me, very cool.  Nothing beyond talk at this point has resulted but it's definitely got me thinking.  I have nothing but props and respect for my fellow professional boxers but I have an extra respect for the female pro boxers!
