The whole point of why Snickers and I never had a real wedding was because it'd be way too expensive to fly my family here or fly his family to Canada for a one day party that'd cost way too much. I've never seen the real point in spending excessive money on one day. Having said that, when Snickers noted to me that he's getting our Grand Opening Party for Hulk's catered I was like, "say what?!!!!"
He says it's the "Korean thing to do" to which I slapped down my mother's aged old response, "and if everyone jumped off a cliff would you do it too?!" He had no idea the connect between my cliff-jumping response and throwing down a grand for catering but he caught that I wasn't agreeing to it. I went to a restaurant grand opening party the other week and even they didn't have free food or free drinks. So if a restaurant who's feature IS the food didn't have free food than why should we? I'll give free body shots out and by "body shots" I mean upper cuts and low blow jabs.
But a grand for food?!... ouch, that hurts.
I really don't care if it's the Korean thing or not, we're trying our dang hardest to make our boxing club feel NOT like Korea so I find it rather contradictory. Anyways, he says we'll have the whole traditional pig's head and friends will "feed it" envelops of money to support us, Korean friends that is. Giving money isn't really a foreign thing to do and I was raised to believe it's rather insulting to do so. I'm not banking on getting any money though it'd be so awesome if we at least came out even with the bill of hosting this party.
What makes me nervous though is my over attachment to this club and having people walking around with their plates full of food is going to kick my Polish tush into hyper mode. I'm going to be watching everyone's plate like a hawk, making sure they don't spill on the floor or Heaven help any little ankle bitters touch their food and then touch our equipment. I can deal with foreign kids but I find Koreans tend to let their kids freely go hog-wild and free. No sir, not in here! I'm so super nervous about the floor especially since I know first hand how much work, stress and money went into it.

Ohhh.... "just enjoy the party Amy", a friend told me but I ask "how"? That's my mission for this Sunday, to "just enjoy it". Not sure on how I'm going to go enjoying a party for a crowd of 100+ but I will try.
