Free Train Fridays means members train by themselves, there's no one-to-one coaching, and I manage the club by myself. It also means members stick around longer at the juice bar for extra social chat, old school music gets played a little louder and as for the no one-to-one training, I train alongside members -- we do various circuits together. Fridays are my hardest days in terms of training because of members wanting me to do circuits with them but I love it.
Am working hard on figuring out the legalities with hosting a female professional boxer at our club for a month or so. She'd be flying in from the States and staying with us. I'm busy trying to schedule her a fight and am eager to get her to possibly spar with me.
I worked with one of our younger members today for a good hour. He's super curious about sparring so I'm always trying to give him extra tips and certain things to focus on when he is doing sandbag work. We stood by the sandbags today, dissecting his boxing style and I found it particularly very inspiring to me, to see his passion for boxing and eagerness to learn.
Good things come to those who work... those who work their butt off, literally. I knew this but today, during our weekly online chat/meeting with my bodybuilding friend in Canada whose website I still help manage, she told me "Never complain about the body you don't have because it means you didn't do the work to deserve it. You have the body you deserve -- the body YOU made."
What she said was a harsh reality. It is a harsh reality for most and that includes me too. I still struggle to get my 6 pack on but I know I am continually pushing myself and doing the best I can at that moment -- MY best. "Better than yesterday" is our club's motto and I know I am better than my yesterday and many days I am so much better while other days I am only a smidge better. Today I maxed out 15 consecutive pull-ups. It was one more than yesterday's count -- better than yesterday.
Trying to change things up and make it so my body is always guessing has been something I've been trying to incorporate not only in my training but also with my eating. Having said this though, adding broccoli to a protein shake tonight left more than my body just guessing. It left my head guessing to, guessing on how to stop my body from gaging on it or throwing it back up! My Poster Child Girl was there to witness the whole thing too and she laughed so much tears came to her eyes.
