Just the other day (Saturday's entry) I wrote about having to change my life for my boxing, having to change my scene, walk away from certain friends, and I had mentioned my friend Je Min.
I met him the first week I was in Korea and were super close.
We spent many years together and went through many times together, like a friend's suicide and helping raise another friend's little girl. But because of his bad boy ways and street fighting tendencies, once I started pro boxing I had to step away from him.
The irony of this picture is in the fact that Je Min was always known to be the fighter, the scraper in my K-Crew, but now it's me who is the fighter.
He's been trying to get a hold of me for a few years now but I've been careful to keep him at least an arm's length away. Today he most randomly walked into my club. I bursted out laughing.
My life no longer involves the drama and street fights it once did. Now I keep my fighting in the ring and encourage others to fall in love with boxing, like I did.
Now I hang out with a different crew, my K-Crew has evolved and it has some really good guys in it.
Today King Kong called, asking if it'd be ok if he came by late for training. "Sure" I told him, "as long as you don't complain about my excessive loud English music!" Left Hulk's at 12:40am.
