Being a small business owner means...
... feeling super nervous when something goes wrong.
... learning how to do things, like renovations, as they pop up and working by trial and error.
... making it matter to others too, like inviting a out-of-town pro boxer to come train.
... doing things you wouldn't have naturally expected to do but doing them because you want to keep your clients happy. Making them happy makes you happy.

... learning that even though you think all your hard work, dedication and committment goes unnoticed, it really doesn't and it is all worth it.
Tonight we had a former member randomly come and throw us a surprise chicken party. We usually throw such parties later in the evening and this particular member attended many. It surely was a super sweet surprise for him to do this to us, much appreciated!
... getting to know your clients as people and then caring about them beyond what we're hired to do.
... putting your needs before your wants and putting work before personal.
I met this kitten on Saturday, after my late night run. She followed me home and slept outside my house all night. I wanted so bad to keep her but I can't afford another four-legged friend.
... making sacrifices in your own personal life for your business life.
It's fair to say my own four-legged friends don't get same type of attention they used to get but we have tried hard to really incorporate them into our business and designate time for them. Pyen Chi works at the club for part of the year, Balboa joins us at the club in the summer and Pacquiao is in training to be my running partner. I now get up extra early in the morning to spend time with them and, unlike before Hulk's, they are allowed to sleep in our bed with us.
