As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Patience is NOT a Virtue of Mine... Tuesday, February 25

Doing a 20km training run in the midday sun with my winter training layers on and on a time limit before work wasn't the challenge of today.  The phone call that I missed right before it and then followed after it was.

Snickers and I got offered an all expenses paid trip to Australia -- our plane tickets, hotel and meals covered -- if we agreed to a 10 round fight.  The fight is scheduled for Saturday but because it's being held in Australia it'd mean we'd have to leave tomorrow.  One days notice to get things ready, pack things and get our butts on that plane for would could be up to a 25 hour flight -- no pressure, no stress.  I wasn't able to really talk about the opportunity beyond with a couple of close friends and possibly am still not able to talk about it in detail because of legal complications with KBC.  It was very nerve racking having to keep this a secret and I was itching to tell a friend. I ended up telling my closest foreign friend today and then later I spilled my beans to one of my running partners but that wasn't until Wednesday night, after it had boiled up inside of me and I just couldn't keep it in anymore.

We were put in a really tough situation between being able to do what we love and doing what is legally right and best for our physical well being.  The possible complications are lengthy, ranging from being fined to possibly needed to take off work to nurse injuries.  And by injuries I mean a broken hand and perhaps a broken nose.  This wasn't simply a trip down under, it was business and the business was rather dirty and brutal.

We decided to go with what we love so plans to go to Australia were moved forward and we waited all day for word.  Long into the evening we heard word but it was for us to wait until tomorrow.
