As the story has it, one day I headed to the opposite side of the globe – the Flipside. I arrived in Korea February 16th, 2005 and thought I’d do a year, then leave. I was wrong. I stayed, launched my first company, Flipside Fitness, and then opened Korea's largest boxing club, Hulk's Boxing (now called Hulk's Club).

After 11.5yrs in Korea, I then picked up one day and returned to Toronto, Canada. But then I left again.

Now I live in the Philippines where I am the CEO and head coach of Empowered Clubhouse, the Philippines' first and only boxing clubhouse exclusively just for women. I also am the founder of the Lil' Sistas Project, CEO and designer of Slay Gear and Baa Baa Black Sheep .Ph.

Never Assume and Never say Never... Saturday, March 15

Upon turning the corner unto my street, I noticed a white sports car idling and people stopping to stare at it.  And as I went to pass by it, the driver called out to me. "Hey girl!" he said.  I don't respond to anyone who hey-girls me from any car window, even it's a freshly washed white Lamborghini as was the case today.  I don't care about cars and I definitely don't care about random dudes.  I love trucks, love my scooters, and I have a man who is a knock out in and out of the ring.

I passed the car and then the driver got out.  It was Panty Boy the Original.

He's back in Cheonan for the weekend and he's lucky Snickers isn't.  Snickers doesn't like Panty Boy, despite the two having never met face-to-face.  Snickers has heard too many complaints and stories from Junior Mint about the trouble that follows him and the trouble he seems to get me in.  Panty Boy is trouble but he's one of my long time friends here in Korea and I do like his "I-don't-care" attitude, plus he's very open and honet.  He's rather full of himself though but must admit that his job and success definitely play an influence here.  He's a model who has made a very successful career out of only posing in underwear.  I remember once when one of his underwear ads was on display at Yawoori, he insisted I go check it out.  And I did.  There was definitely that awkward moment when you're standing there, looking at your buddy in a pair of barely-there skinnies with the bulge from his family jewels being about the same size of your head.  I was proud of him, sure, but I really didn't need to see that.

Panty Boy's success continues to feed his expensive taste for excessive toys with sports car apparently being his most recent collection.  It used to be sports bikes, one of which I should note I totalled back in the day when we randomly decided to drive from Cheonan to Daejon on two of them and he crashed in front of me.  It was either drive over his head like a speed bump or swerve and crash.  I jack knifed the bike, took out a side jewelry stand and then spent the weekend in the hospital.  To this day we still joke about it and whenever he mocks me about it I tell him I should have just driven over his head, it is after all too full of hot air.

It was a bit odd seeing him, so out of the blue like this, but it was just what I needed.  This past week has been rather hush-hush among my friends.  There's a large purple elephant in the room that everyone knows is there but no one wants to acknowledge.  Panty Boy had asked me if I had talked to any of my "friends" about the situation, suggesting that I should just stay quiet about it, but I knew what he meant.  He meant other foreigners and we argued about this.   I hate it when people assume because I'm a foreigner than I must have many close foreign friends -- I have three.  I do have a good crew of tight friends here, 99% of them happen to be Korean, and yes I did try to talk about it with some of them because I think it is something we really need to address.  No one is really talking about it though.  I worry about my former teammate in particular.  He came in to Hulk's on Friday and I briefly asked him how he was dealing with everything.

Panty Boy then told me to get back into his car and then he drove me to a particular spot, the spot where it all went down.  It was so incredibly strange to be standing right there, right where just this past week one of our friends stood.  I ended up getting really mad with Panty Boy for bringing me there.  I would have never agreed to go there if I knew where it was that he was taking me to, so I hit him.
