Intimidation in my life is having the following:
1 husband who is my coach and a Korean champion boxer.
3 female friends who are all current Korean champion boxers.
2 very close male friends who were Korean champions.
6 friends/business associates who are current Korean champion boxers.
1 former Korean coach who was a Korean champion boxer.
1 former Canadian coach/mentor who was an Olympian silver medalist.
2 friends in Canada who both went to the Olympics for boxing, one of which went twice.
Note the intimidation?! Intimidation is good; it's as intimidating as it is motivating.
That's THIRTEEN professional Korean champion boxers and THREE Olympian boxers that I am surrounded by and that's in addition to the numerous other pro/amateur boxers and pro athletes in my life. Now you know where I get my motivation from and the drive to continually push myself to new limits. When people call me intense with my training and commend me on my dedication, I question who they are really comparing me to. In comparison to the average person, yes perhaps I do stand out but I don't in comparison to those I get my energy from and those I look up to. People know this IS my job right?! My level of training and focus to eating clean is expected and practiced by those in my life, those in my sport. It is both intimidating and motivating to be surrounded by such people but now I so eagerly long to bring myself up to their rankings.
